heading in the right direction

Last Wednesday I almost posted that I’d dropped a few pounds over night (really, I did) and I thought about taking back my MayDay stats and officially posting a bigger loss.

Then the weekend happend–the weekend of CAKE, which segued into a work week of cake. All I can say is that Labor and Delivery people must work overtime in September–seriously, this month I have celebrated 12 birthdays I think. Each with cake or some other dessert, because you know, it’s a birthday. And a birthday means a dessert.

Anyhoo, I’m down .4 lbs from last week. Not even a whole half-pound, BUT, considering I ate that in cake alone, I’m not really complaining!

Out with the Old, on with the New….

So it turns out, there was one week left to the May Day Weight Loss challenge…..but sadly, I will not close it with a bang. I will close it as I left it last week–just 3 lbs lost in 18 weeks! Oh well…three pounds is three pounds. And besides, if I’d lost my target 10 lbs this summer, whatever would I do with myself this fall?!?! My wrap-up post from last week is here.

Ha. Anyway, if you are a May-Day loser, you know my story. If you are new to Tales from the Scales, most of my story is woven throughout my blog under the “weight loss” tag. The big parts of the story are here (scroll down through the toddler tale) and here.

So for this new challenge, Look Great in 2008, my first goal will be to lose the 4.5 lbs I need to lose to get back down to my lowest weight of the summer ( a mere 4 weeks ago) . The next goal will be to reach 170 lbs AND STAY THERE! To do both, I need to get back into the zone, into the enthusiastic mode I was at the beginning of the May Day challenge.

I CAN DO THIS! I CAN DO THIS!

May Day Weight Loss Challenge week 18!

Ok, this is it. Today is the last weigh in for the May Day Weight Loss Challenge. I can’t believe it’s over, and honestly, I thought there WAS one more week (because I’m bad at math). So let’s review where the scale has been these past 18 weeks.

Beginning weight: 180 lbs (5/8/2007)
Lowest weight: 172.2 lbs (8/14/2007)
Today’s weight: 177 lbs (9/11/2007) seriously…..was it the deep fryer? the birthday cake? (did my birthday cake some how get deep fried??

overall loss: 3 lbs

left to go: 7lbs

what have I gained? (besides the same five pounds I keep losing and regaining?)
1. I now have a scale, and I weigh my self several times a week, if not daily
2. I am now more aware of how my eating affects my weight
3. I now know that I do have time to cook
4. Somehow, my clothes fit better. And even just yesterday someone commented on my weight loss (which has become less and less with each deep-fried meal)
5. If I was not doing this challenge, I know for a fact that I would weigh more than I do today, and for that, I am grateful.

Good thing there’s another challenge starting next week!
