Stonyfield Farms Yo Baby Yogurt: a Review and a Giveaway

**THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATS TO THE WINNER, Cassandra!**

Junior has just celebrated his first birthday, and his palate is *slowly* expanding. I don’t remember introducing solids as being a big deal with MAM, but for Junior, it’s becoming a tedious process. He’s particular about texture (he prefers no texture really), he’s particular about taste, and he makes fantastic faces to let me know how he feels about a menu item.

When Stonyfield Farms contacted me about reviewing Yo Baby yogurt, I was happy to, for YoBaby was already on Junior’s daily approved menu. He’s a big fan of the YoBaby yogurt with fruit and cereal, and when I can’t find that, YoBaby yogurt with just fruit will do. We took the free coupons they sent and went right to the store!

This yogurt, I must say, is probably on his short list of self-approved foods–he is happy to eat spoonful after spoonful. After this pictured feeding, he actually picked up the yogurt cup and started licking it.

I am happy to feed him spoonful after spoonful because of how good it is for him (yes, he is one, and content to be spoon fed for the most part). For starters, it’s organic, whole-milk yogurt (My word, have you tasted whole-milk yogurt? So smooth, so creamy, it’s almost like dessert!). Secondly, when I read the label, I can actually read the label. I am able to identify the ingredients, and find many in my own pantry.

If you already serve YoBaby to your little ones, you may have noticed the new packaging. The new look goes together with their new BIG campaign– to promote Brain development by making the yogurt with whole milk, Immune system support by including zinc, and Growth by including vitamin D. The new packaging is also more environmentally friendly, saving tons of packaging from land fills each year.

**THE GIVEAWAY**
Stonyfield Farm has put together a fun prize pack for one lucky reader. It includes 5 coupons for free YoBaby yogurt, a bowl with lid, and an organic bib for the YoBaby in your life. Isn’t it cute??

Diane Birch on a Sunday Morning

It’s hard to listen to an album all the way through at my house. Times where I am the actual dj driving the music selections are few and far between, and times where I actually get to do this long enough to enjoy a whole album are even slimmer.

Until Sunday morning. With the great Tonsillectomy Recovery of 2009 going on upstairs, MAM was MIA until almost noon yesterday. Jr, however, was up at his usual 6:30 am or so. He was more interested in his toys than the morning’s soundtrack, so I took the opportunity to fully imerse myself in the Diane Birch’s debut album, Bible Belt.
Oh my word. I do love this woman. I love the melodies (“Valentino” is oh-so-catchy, “Ariel” tells a great story). I love the piano. I love the lyrics. Who does she sound like? Names that are tossed around in her press coverage: Aretha, Carole King, Stevie Nicks, Amy Winehouse….are you compelled to check her out yet?? (Seriously, all those names, and more, come up) Don’t believe me? Click to hear Fire Escape.

Back to yesterday morning: I drank my coffee, I read the paper, I listened to adult music. Good start to the day indeed.

Thanks to the One2One Network for sending me the CD for this review–it is one I will be playing often. Want it for yourself? Click on my side bar, and not only will you be able to purchase Bible Belt, but $1 will be donated to the SOS Children’s Village, through a program called Discover & Donate. Does it get any better than this??

On the Edge of Summer Time

I love ice cream, especially in the summer time. Ice cream loves me too….it likes to hang around long after the taste is gone (think: ” A minute on the lips, a lifetime on the hips). So I was most excited to learn about Skinny Cow ice cream products a few summers ago.

I am a fan of the traditional ice cream sandwich-vanilla ice cream, with chocolate cookies as bookends. The vanilla Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches are outstanding–unlike a lot of “lite” products, they are a decent size and don’t taste “lite”. I passed these out recently to my husband and my mom, and they both thought gave the vanilla Skinny Cow thumbs up.

The Skinny Cow website is full of information on healthy lifestyles, a downloadable walking journal, and the Weight Watchers points value for all products (they don’t make a dessert over 3 points! How great is that?). There’s even a “flavor finder” that can point you to a store that carries the product you crave.

Thanks to Mom Central for the opportunity to participate in this blog tour!
