Build-A-Bear Madness

We may have started a bad, bad, bad, thing. Yesterday we initiated MAM and Z to the wonders of Build-a-Bear. It wasn’t anything we planned, really, it just sort of happened. We needed to come up with something to do for Z’s birthday, and our spring like weather had flown, sooo….we took them to Build-a-Bear. It was really all very cute. A complete and total racket, but really cute.

And I will always remember it as the day the MAM actually named a stuffed animal. She and daddy made a very cute koala bear. She put a cute jean skirt and pink top on it, refused shoes (no! bear has paw prints!) and named it…..ALEX.

But really, her favorite part? The “present” box. She carried that thing throughout the entire mall.

We had a good visit with J and Z. We did Build-a-Bear, the mall playground, and then Burger King, where MAM and Z had the playland all to themselves. We had one tired monkey on our hands last night!

Must Love Dogs

My girl, MAM, she loves dogs. She loves the stuffed dogs Grandpa M brings her every time we visit. She loves the dogs we see on our daily bike rides. She loves the dogs of our friends. She loves dogs so much she’s asked for one for her birthday. She’s currently asleep with three stuffed dogs all around her.

I so do not love dogs. I mean, they are OK and all, but I so do not love them. I don’t need to pep them (MAM’s word for pet), I don’t need them to give me kisses, and I certainly don’t need one that I will have to walk on a daily basis.

But I just had to see if there was a dog out there that would fit my criteria–allergy friendly, non-dominating, non-attack dog, in need of just a walk or two a day….and there was. It’s a Schnoodle–the cross between a schnauzer and a poodle. Go figure. (pictured above)

I wonder if she’d be happy with a Lassie DVD for her birthday?!?!

Easter in Review……

In MAM’s words:

“The Easter Rabbit at my house!”

“I want CANDY!!”

“MORE CANDY!”

“CANDY is good!”

“Happy Easter!”

“The Rabbit put eggs in my house.”

“MORE CANDY!”

“Grandma and grandpa and great-grandma at my house.”

“CANDY?” (are you noticing a theme?)

It took MAM about 3.5 seconds to figure out that the eggs that made noise when shaken were good (candy or money) and that the eggs that didn’t make noise were boring (stickers). The boring, silent eggs are still unopened, in a pile. The candy was gone before high noon and the her piggy bank is full. I think we’ll attempt talking about the Resurrection some other time–it’s hard to compete against quarters and jelly beans!

Dinner was tasty, the company was good, the house is still clean…does it get better than that?
