Road Trip Recap: Dreamy and Romantic

That’s how I’ll describe my cousin’s wedding. It was a perfect October day, a beautiful setting, and happiness was in the air.

They were married outside in a simple ceremony, and then moved the party inside.
Isn’t the cake pretty? The photos all
around the cake were photos of family weddings–mostly, brides and grooms cutting their cakes. Clever, eh?
MAM discovered how yummy Shirley Temples
are, and had fun dancing. She also really enjoyed reading
books in
a little lobby outside the reception hall. I’m sure there will be a day where I wish she was do
ing more reading and less

dancing….but it was pretty funny to watch. She heard the song, “Funkytown” and came to our table and said,
“Shrek has that song!” and then went back to her book in the lobby (we could see the lobby from the table, which was perfect). Junior enjoyed the music, I think, and flirting with all the pretty girls. BgK and I enjoyed our selves too.
And the bride and groom? They were glowing. Just glowing. Don’t you think they glow??
Their first dance was, “Follow You Follow Me” by Genesis, and I have to say, that after really listening to the lyrics, it’s a great wedding song!
Our first dance was “Kick in the Head” by Dean Martin. That tells you something our romantic relationship, doesn’t it?!?!
What was your first dance at your wedding??? Please do tell!! (and Sitemeter tells me there has
been much lurking and not much commenting lately….)

  1. The wedding looks lovely and so does your family! I’m so glad you had a good time.

Hubby and I got married 10 yrs ago, and I chose a classic for our wedding song: “Make Someone Happy” by Jimmy Durante. I think I first heard it in Sleepless in Seattle, but I’m a sucker for old songs so it stuck with me.

At our wedding we also played my grandparents wedding song and asked them to dance to it. It’s called Oh How We Danced On The Night We Were Wed by Al Jolson. Funny story – when they got married in 1947, it was the only record at their reception so it was played over and over and over again!

  2. We just ahd our 15th anniversary last week! Okay, I am going to make a confession: at this very moment I cannot remember our wedding song. I suck. My husband should divorce me.

  3. Her dress looks really neat. I love that Genesis song!

Our dance was The Man in Love with you by George Strait. My dad sang “Daddy’s Little Girl” a capella to me just before that. Not a dry eye in the place, let me tell ya’! Then he and I danced to Nat King Cole/Natalie COle’s duet – Unforgettable….

  4. Oooohh…I love Genesis. What a great first song!

We had “You Are My Home” from the show The Scarlet Pimpernel.

  5. The photos are gorgeous. I love their cake, it’s really classy.

We shared our first dance with our parents and grandparents, it was Frank Sinatra’s ‘Fly Me To The Moon’. We had a great jazz band and it was the first time I’d seen my grandparents dance together.

  6. That looks like a lovely wedding! The cake looks divine.

Our first dance was “Baby Can I Hold You” by Tracy Chapman.
