The Silver Lining

The silver lining in all of our allergy adventures this past week is that apparently eating dairy-free, wheat-free, egg-free, gluten-free and soy-free is REALLY good for the waistline.

2.8lbs GOOD. Finally back to my pre-vacation weight GOOD *actually, a little lower. Lower than I’ve ever weighed for the MayDay weight loss challenge GOOD. 172.2 lbs good.

I have to say, that eating fewer carbs and less cheese (referred to last week in general terms as “less crap”) has been a really good thing for me.

As for MAM, she’s still plugging along, being a trooper. She loves her new lunchbox that she gets to take to daycare every day (since she can’t eat food service food anymore), loves to take her “milk” out of the fridge and open the flip top, LOVES the corn-pop cereal she’s taken to (replacing Cheerios), and hasn’t had to blow her nose in something like three days.

It’s a beautiful thing.

May Day Weight Loss Challenge week 13

Ok, I’ll admit it–I’m up 1.5 this week to bring me up to 175 (again). I think it’s time to get serious again, and to maybe stop eating so damn much. Really, no matter how you slice it, that’s the crux (or crust) of the issue. What have I been eating???? Well….chips and crackers at the pool, French silk birthday pie, a fried-chicken picnic, tiramisu, ice cream for lunch, need I say more??

I’m not going to say anymore, except to say that I am going to drink more water and less vodka tonics and eat less crap. Period.

Status Quo

So Saturday, before we went out for our posh dinner, before we had a picnic at the pool and before I inhaled a bag pita chips all by myself, my weight was down a bit. Today, not so much. But that’s ok, because it will probably go down tomorrow, like it usually does. Have you noticed that there’s a day of the week where you are at your “lightest”?? For me, it’s Weds and Thurs, it seems. I’m weighing Tuesdays to “challenge” myself (I’m sick like that)–to you know, attempt to maintain my low weight throughout the week.

If I can refrain from buying (because once they are bought, they are as good as eaten) more pita chips, I should be good for next week, right?

In the mean time, what’s keeping me going (and riding rather high) is that I went for my physical this past week, and guess what? I’m a full THIRTEEN pounds less than a was about a year ago. So not only have I lost 7lbs on this challenge, I actually lost 6lbs before that. I prefer to think that I’ve lost 6lbs of flab, and not just muscle morphing into less-dense flab. Surely it’s 13lbs of flab, don’t ya think?!?!
