Two-for-one bonus

Until further notice, M will be referred to as SUPER STREAK, due to her joy in being naked and current severe aversion to being dressed.

Well, bonus is a strong word. Convenience is really more acurate. The three of us all see the same family doc, and it’s days like today that is a huge part of the reason why.

Tuesday I awoke with a sinus headache. Really, nothing pissess me off more than waking up with a headache–I mean, truely, what a crappy way to wake up. So after two days of trying to self-medicate, it was time to go to the doctor today.

For the past few days, Super Streak has been digging and pulling on her right ear. Other than that, she’s been fine, minus the stripping and the crankieness I chalked up to being closer to 2 than to 1. So when I called for myself today, I RSVP’d for her too.

Turns out, we got our double co-pay’s worth today–I have a sinus infection and she has an ear infection. (In just one ear, which is better than the bilateral she usually gets) We did our usual drive-thru pharmacy stop, and got our first doses down by 4pm today.

When L stopped in on his way to class tonight, he said I looked like I was ready to drive the car into the lake (honestly, I was too tired to even think about driving). He stayed home, and I took a THREE hour nap. THREE hours.

I woke up just in time to put Super Streak to bed. When L went to check on her, she was only wearing a shirt around her waist. That’s it. More illustrations on her new nickname in the days to come, because it is, officially, SPRING BREAK.

With that, my internet friends, I am going back to bed.

Ahh….girlfriends

I’ve just returned from the best weekend EVER. Friday night I drove about 110 miles north to meet my two oldest, dearest girlfriends. How old, you ask? We met the first day of Freshman year in English class back in 1987. That old. This is the first time since we’ve all become moms that all three of us have gotten away without the girls or the men….and we took full advantage of our near 48 hours of bliss.

Friday night we started the weekend off right with a trip to Cap n’ Cork, a local liquor store. We were ambitious, each purchasing assorted alcoholic treats to last us the weekend. We stayed up til 2am, drinking Chocolate Vodka Martinis (OMG) and catching up.

Saturday started with our free breakfast and a stop for Gatorade (almost hungover, but not quite), before we hit the mall. Our first stop? The shiatsu massage chairs. $6=18 minutes of BLISS. Seriously, a little cheesy, sitting there in an electric chair in the middle of the mall, but totally worth it. We then toured H & M, cashed in our free undies cards at Vicky’s, and had a good lunch. Then we hit the jackpot–facials at the beauty school. Apparently a bargain basement beauty school, because our facials were SEVEN DOLLARS EACH. $7. That’s it. And it included nap time in a dark and quiet room.

And our perfect day wasn’t over yet. Once back at the hotel, we napped some more, went for a swim and then out to dinner. We returned, watched Sex & the City and hit the sack kind of early, compared to the night before. Sheer bliss. I’ve returned rested, centered and happy to be home. I Love Girlfriends.

Record Breaking….

Inactivity. Lack of posting. I know. Believe me. If I were inclined to blog, these would be my potiental posts:

On the outside looking in: explaining the blogging/discussion board world to someone who doesn’t know it exists. And that advertising there is effective.

Gaps in Logic: How a 19 month old can know how to open a child safety lock on a door knob, but to forget to undress before getting in the tub (which she can of course, turn on, thus a good day for teaching wet/dry).

Dilemmas: to follow a different path or stay the course in the classroom??

St. Patrick’s day fun!

Escaping: my first girls weekend since M was born will be commencing in three hours.
