It’s like something straight out of the Jetsons…

Since becoming a mom, I’ve come to truly appreciate the solace of a hot shower. Alone. You know, the kind of shower where you don’t have half an ear out of the shower curtain, listening to the pitter patter of little feet because the door is locked. And shaving both legs, shampooing and conditioning, and face cleansing all happen. The thing is, not only do I have to carve out a time to do all that, but then there’s the matter of blow drying said hair. There have been plenty of mornings when I’m getting ready for work that I surpass the shampoo just because I know I don’t have the 20 minutes it takes to blow dry my hair.

That’s why this Salon Grafix shampoo caught my interest. It doesn’t require water, privacy or blow drying. It just sprays on, you brush your hair (I try to get out of that on the lowest of maintenance days, but truly, I usually have time to do that, at least). Dry shampoo, friends, dry shampoo. I’m thinking that this will come in handy on mornings when I’m running late, and for evening engagements when I don’t have time between work and wherever I’m going for more than a quick pick me up.

Salon Grafix offers formulas for specific shades of hair, and leaves no powder or residue. I’m thinking that having a bottle of this in my glove box for a quick refresh may just help me feel a little more pulled-together on those rush-rush mornings.

What’s the likelihood of:

1)Leaving work early Monday to take MAM to a doc’s appt
2) Having a snow delay Wednesday
3) Having to report for Jury Duty on Thursday
4) Having MAM develop a fever Thursday afternoon, shortly after I’m released from the jury pool
5) Staying home on an in-service day because said child certainly does have some sort of cold/virus

Actual attendance at work is over rated anyway. Yippee for three day weekends!!

Holding Steady

Today, for the first time since last Wednesday, the scale said 176.6, which I consider a total gift. I’m glad my scale is charitable on Wednesday. Let’s just say that the HOLIDAYS have hit the staff breakroom at work with full force–truffles, brownies, peppermint joe-joe’s (think oreos with peppermint creme)…you name it, I’ve probably eaten it. Throw in a Peppermint Mocha, and a birthday party, and yes, today’s weight was a total gift. The good news? I feel like I’m sorta done with said treats, so I shall be more able to resist this week.

As for my exercise goal? Not wanting to be a complete failure, I dusted off the DVD last night and did it once. So I met my goal at 50%. Which is 50% more than I’ve done in a long time. So my DVD goal will remain at 2x. It really is a trick to fit it in–I can’t drag my butt out of bed any earlier (5:45 is early enough, don’t you think?), which leaves only after MAM’s bedtime to do it. Which worked out OK last night. (the exercise ball is too much of an obsession for her, so we keep it in the garage when she’s awake).

In other news, I’m on a ONE HOUR DELAY today. By far, this is one of the best bonuses of being a teacher. I know, it’s a pain as a parent if you have to get to work…but since the school can’t open without a staff, and most of the staff has children at other schools with delays, it’s sort of a vicious cycle. And honestly, driving a school bus is tricky enough business without weather. (mind you, my school doesn’t have school buses, but other staff members have kids who ride them)

If you are in the eastern midwest, be careful out there!
