In Honor of Summer and all things coffee….

Mocha Frappuccino

Hyper and driven, you’ll take your caffeine any way you can get it. Frappuccinos are good, but you’d probably chew coffee beans in a crunch!

MMMM….mocha. Icy, frothy…I wish they didn’t make me MORE thirsty, but they do. I don’t find coffee at all thirst-quenching, but that doesn’t stop it from being necessary.

RELAY IS HAPPENING NOW! So my fam is at Relay For Life today, and I’m home while baby girl catches a MUCH needed nap. She’s been having a blast today, but was ready to decompress. We are raising $$ like mad. The crowd is thin, but generous ;-).

We are camped out next to a team who is walking in honor of their adult son, who is Relaying out in Maryland today, with his new artifical limb. The man is in his 30’s and is a THREE time cancer survivor. He recently lost his leg to cancer, but is out there today, walking, to raise money and awareness. Somehow, my whining and complaining about the mudane details of my life (the baby’s nap schedule is off! i’ve been called for jury duty! i didn’t have time to read all the blogs i wanted to read!) are non-issues.

A little more political than usual

Ok, so this is a little heavier than my usual fluff about the Babe and what she did at daycare. But this is disturbing to me, so I am sharing.

I have a cyber-friend who is in the process of adopting a baby who is 1/64 Native American (I won’t name the particular tribe). 1/64, you read that correctly. Anyway, it’s procedure to alert the appropriate tribe when an adoption takes place, so they did. Now the tribe is contesting the adoption.

I was stunned when I found this out–when we were going through the process, they told us not to worry about having a match where Native American descent was involved–you had to alert the appropriate tribe, but really they just wanted record keeping information, and your child could use that for things like scholarship money.

Well my friend has done research, and apparently, sometimes the appropriate tribe wins, regardless of what is best for the child. Read this and tell me what you think.

Personally, I think this is a case of a law being REALLY misinterpreted.

Thank you for sharing!
