There are some things about childhood that you don’t forget–learning how to ride a bike, maybe playing a particular game, and attending certain events. The Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus at Madison Square Garden, NYC circa the late 70’s is one of those events for me. My family went with our good friends, rode the subway and sat in box seats for the Greatest Show On Earth. The lights, the music, the stunts–pure magic!
Fast forward 30 (seriously, 30, I know, doesn’t seem possible, I know) years and The Greatest Show on Earth is bigger and better than ever, and quite possibly coming to a city near you. Visit www.ringling.com to enter your zip code & find a show near you, learn about their
Baby’s First Circus program, and really, anything you ever wanted to know about the circus. If your child is an animal lover, there are all kinds of photos and facts about the animals in the Ringling Circus Family. MAM is loving the slides of
the trainers taking care of the animals!

We missed the Indianapolis shows at the beginning of the month–we are going to try to see the show in Chicago around Thanksgiving time or maybe in Cinci this spring.
When my dad was a tot, he lived near the railroad tracks. It was not unusual for him to come home for lunch and find a troupe of midgets, or maybe the bearded lady and the tattooed man, being fed a hot meal…in return for circus tickets! Grandma Flo was also a big circus fan.
(I love the acrobats and the animals, but I still think clowns are SCARY!)
ohhh sounds fun!
