moving in the right direction

I’m down another pound, which means I’m under the 175 lb mark (again. barely) and am weighing in at 174.4lbs.

Things are moving right along–so far, I’ve been able to keep the Halloween treats at bay, and it’s been quiet on the birthday front.

I went clothes shopping Saturday, which was a ball, and I’ve been wearing new duds all week. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments, which feels really good! More than one person has asked if I’ve lost “a ton” of weight. And again, I’m thinking that nowhere does six lbs qualify as a ton, but hey, it’s in the eye of the beholder, right?? I am loving the stretchy cami I bought to go under a few shirts–it just sort of “smooths” everything out, and contains the flab, I think!

So here’s my advice–even if you are nowhere near your goal, even if you know you want to lose more weight, even if you don’t really “need” another shirt…if you’ve lost say, 5lbs or 10lbs or 15lbs, go shopping. Even if you just buy one shirt for $10 (the shirt in the shopping post was $9.99), it will make you feel good. And even if it’s the same size you’ve always worn, people may still notice that you’ve lost weight, because people will look at your new shirt and really look (where as, if you wear the same things you’ve always worn, people sort of look through you instead of at you).

Go ahead, try it…I dare you! And let me know how it turns out!!

Weigh-In Wednesday…

I lost a pound! I lost a pound! Did I tell you, I lost a pound?

I was very geeked to see a lower number–finally 175.6. This week I focused on water, not stuffing my face, resisting the dark chocolate M & M’s at work (getting a few every other time I walked past them, not every time), and drinking high-fiber berry smoothies in the morning. Truly, the weeks I make the smoothies, I tend to lose. So obviously, this is something I need to keep doing!

Since you asked…….

Breakfast: Yogurt smoothies

I recently discovered that you can make a fantastic smoothie with plain yogurt. You read correctly—plain. Not vanilla, but the almost sour tasting plain yogurt. Trader Joe’s makes a version with 3g of fiber per 1 cup of yogurt, which is a bonus. You may want to experiment with the exact amounts for your perfect smoothie—I chose these amounts for easy point counting.

½ c. plain ff yogurt (1pt)
1 1/2 c. assorted berries (1pt)
½ c. vanilla soy milk or regular skim milk (1pt)
A sprinkle of flaxseeds, if desired

Ice, if desired

Blend all ingredients until smooth. 3 PTs, it’s also a CORE recipe, I believe.
