Indiana Fever Heat Up Indianapolis

(Looking for FREE Fever tickets to June 8th’s game? Skip to the bottom. No really, it’s cool.)

Summer is in full swing around here. The signs? We have tickets to an upcoming Indians game. I’m volunteering this week at vacation bible school. We are counting down the kids turning four and seven. And I’ve already been to an Indiana Fever game.

For the past thirteen years, the Indiana Fever have called the Fieldhouse home during the dog-days of summer. Really, when you think about it, an indoor sport in the heat of summer makes perfect sense.

Last week, I was part of a group of amazing women treated to a night in the Legends suite for the Fever v. Liberty game. It was a totally different and totally fun girls night out. We had the opportunity to talk to Julie Graue, Vice President of Business Operations for the Indiana Fever, and her passion for the WNBA really came through. As I was listening, I felt extremely grateful to have one of only 12 WNBA teams right here in Indianapolis.

The Indiana Fever strives to be family friendly, and it shows in everything they do, from hosting kids activities in the concourse to hosting a birthday party for Freddy Fever every July. Reasonable ticket prices make it easy for the whole family to enjoy a game together.

Don’t believe me? How about the deal on seats for Saturday night games ( 6/16, 7/7, 8/18 and 9/1)-  Lucas Oil Family Night’s presented by The Indianapolis Star. Starting at only $13 you can get a ticket, Pepsi, chips, hot dog and a t-shirt. Dinner and a professional sporting event and a t-shirt. For real.

Free this Friday night, June 8th? Follow this link for 2 FREE tickets (pay only .75 processing fee)!

Disclosure: I received a free ticket to the game and access to the Legends suite. The fun I had and my opinions are all my own.

Indianapolis Indians Ticket Giveaway 2012

Edited: This giveaway is now closed- congratulations to the winner, Erik Deckers! Thanks for playing!

It’s summer!

The pools are open, summer reading programs are about to begin, movies and concerts in the park are all scheduled up, and the Tribe is playing ball at Victory Field.

I love Indiana summer nights. I love being outside, whether it’s at a park, at a concert or in my own backyard. There’s just something about a summer night that holds so much more possibility than a night in, say, February.

One of the best ways to spend a summer night downtown is to take a game in a Victory Field. The Indianapolis Indians are the home team, and the game is fun time for everyone, baseball fans and casual observers alike.

A Summer Reading List of My Own

Something’s been happening very slowly over the last year or so. Well, some days it feels fast, and other days it seems to have been a long time coming. Regardless, I started noticing it this spring at the playground.

My kids don’t need me.

Oh sure, they need me to drive them there. And the rule has been they always have to be able to see me. But they don’t need me.

MaM hasn’t needed a spotter on the playground since the summer she turned three, but she’s needed an occasional boost up onto the monkey bars. Not any more.

The fox used to be timid about a lot of things, but he’s coming into his own. Mostly he needs to be pushed on the swing, but guess who’s happy to do that most of the time? His sister.

So that leaves me parked on a park bench. Which isn’t a bad place to be. But I’m thinking I’m going to have to stash some books in the car so that while they are playing the day away, I have something to do.

Which leads me to this- what are you reading? What new books/authors do you recommend?

I’ll really read just about anything- so please, offer up some suggestions!

Also, stay tuned- a giveaway for a family pack of tickets to the Indianapolis Indians will post here soon. Til then, go check out Heather’s giveaway at Family Fun in the City for a chance to win and a list of other giveaways happening right now!
