Wendy’s Wonderul Kids Program

Can you believe Father’s Day is almost here? Do you have anything special planned that weekend? How will your kids show dad that he is #1 to them??

At our house, June 2009 will go down as “Ice Cream Month” (thanks to MAM’s tonsillectomy), so naturally, our Father’s Day dessert will be ice cream, and this year we are going to Wendy’s for Frostys. The Frostys that we buy that weekend will not only be a fun dessert for us (and no dishes for me), 50 cents of every Frosty purchased will go directly to Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program. Can’t sneak out of the family cookout to get Frostys that weekend? No worries. You can still help, and Dad will still be thought of as your kids design Father’s Day cards at www.frostycard.com. Kids can pick from some of Dad’s favorite scenes, add a certificate good for a future car wash or trash hauling, and email it. For each card emailed, 25 cents will be donated to the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program.

Until Mom Central sent me information on this blog tour, I was not familiar with this program. I knew of the Dave Thomas Foundation, but not of all the many worthwhile projects it undertakes to serve children.

The Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program provides funding to adoption agencies to focus on finding permenant adoption placement for older children eligible for adoption. There are currently over 500,000 children in the US in foster care, and 129,000 of them are eligible for adoption. Wendy’s Wonderful Kids helps agencies to dedicate staff to finding placements for older children. Since 2005, over 3,000 children have found their forever families with the help of this program.

I’m off to serve the girl some more ice cream, and to see if she’s up to designing a frosty card for Grandpa. Have fun planning some sweet treats for the dads in your lives!

This post is part of a blog tour sponsored by Mom Central. Hey FTC: I was given a Wendy’s gift card as compensation for this promotion. Yum!

  1. Weird question – I've been signed up with Mom Central forever and never get invitations to the Blog tours. Am I missing something or do they just not like my blog?
