If you are here via ICLW, welcome. If you are here via WFMW, welcome. If you don’t speak in abbreviations, welcome!
Today’s tip is sooooo easy, I wish I could say I thought of it myself. But I didn’t. I totally hijacked this idea from my friend. MaM went to her son’s party and came home with one and it was the best loved party favor ever.
So of course we had to have them for Jr’s second birthday.
Are you ready?
Mylar Helium Balloons!
(Wait! You think: isn’t that kind of spendy??)
Here’s the secret: they are from……..THE DOLLAR STORE.
Yes, the Dollar Store (assorted chains of dollar stores, I don’t even remember which we one used) sells character, theme and assorted balloons for $1.
(NOTE: Get a balloon anchor while you are there, or bring some washers, or at least remember they are in your car when you open the door. Otherwise, Grandma may have to go buy a replacement balloon or two while you get the party started. Good thing they are only $1…..)
This week is ICLW, hosted by Melissa over at Stirrup Queens. If you aren’t familiar, it’s basically a week where bloggers commit to commenting on other people’s blogs. Simple concept, yes?
I tend to participate in the summer months because I am a teacher and have a bit more time to blog hop and leave comments when school’s out for summer. Not a lot of time, I have a an almost five-year old and a just-turned two year old. We spend our summers at the pool, the playground and the libraries.
As for blogging, I started just as we were starting the process for our first adoption 51/2 yrs ago. Blogging has changed a lot since then, and so has my life. If you are looking for adoption posts, search the category “Open Adoption” or the tag “adoption”. If you want stories about my kiddos, they are known here as “MaM” and “Jr”, they have their own tags, and are also under the category “Monkey Antics”.
Thanks for visiting, and please leave a comment so I know you were here!!
(Question: is it hard to find where to leave a comment? since changing themes I’ve noticed the commenting has gone down, I don’t know if it’s because ‘comments’ is hard to see or if my narratives are uninspiring….)
Hello! Welcome! If you’ve found me via ICLW, I’m glad 😉
Last month I sort of jumped right in, this month I thought I’d introduce myself, using the alphabet.
AApples. I love to eat apples. Not so much a fan of the “apple theme” that seems to go along with being a teacher. No, really. BBoy,I am mom to one boy, and boy is he different from my girl! The obsession with wheels and things that go seemed to happen shortly after he arrived home. CCake. Cookies. Candy. Chocolate. DDomain name! I own my own domain! It’s all of about 1 month old, and only about two weeks live on the internet. EElephant, I was one for my tap-dance recital in kindergarten. I can still sing the song. FFeet, size 10 feet, or small canoes, really. GGotchababy was actually a name generated by Blogger way back. I liked it, and it stuck. HHope. Is there anything without it? IIce cream, sweet, delicious ice cream. JJail, I’ve toured a few, but always as a visitor, never a resident. KKieran, That’s my hubby’s middle name. I LOVE that name. LLittle feet, we have two pairs of little feet running around our house. Man, can they run (well, one crawls, but he is fast)! M is my absolute favorite letter of the alphabet. It was even before my initials were 3M. NNo, I feel like I say this constantly to the boy. He doesn’t seem to mind though–he just smiles and continues to go about his business! O Octopus, sometimes I think I’d get more done with more arms. PPizza, hot, cheesy, melty thin-crust pizza. QQuiet. My house is hardly ever quiet. I relish it when it is…at least the first 30 minutes or so. RRice Milk, is my daughter’s drink of choice. I buy it a case at a time from Trader Joe’s. SSchool is starting in one short month. TTeacher. I am going to start my 13th year of teaching in one month. HOW did that happen? UUpside. There’s an upside to just about everything. I work really hard to find it. VVery. Very hungry, very busy, very tired, very content, very. WWings. A new game with my daughter, she likes to pretend she has them. XXrays. It seems like one of us is always getting x-rayed for something. Most recently, a chest x-ray for the boy’s cough. YYellow. I love it when kids say, Lell-yow instead. I may have pronounced it that way so MAM would. No one can prove it though. ZZoo. I feel like my life is a zoo sometimes. A lot of it is of my own making.
