I don’t like cooking when it’s 90+ degrees out. It’s hot, it’s tiring, and while people need to eat in this heat, the hunger is different.

So, due to a perfect combination, I haven’t had to really cook since last Friday, I think.

Saturday night, I attended my 20th High School Reunion. I wrote about it on Persephone. It was a good time, and it involved a buffet, bar and fabulous dessert selections.

Sunday night, we picked up a roasted chicken at the grocery.

Monday we ate something, I don’t remember what it was. I know if anything, it only involved the microwave.

Tuesday night, we went to Victory Field, and had a yummy picnic, compliments of Family of Farmers. Victory Field is SUCH a fun place to be, and if you can snag free food and beer, well, it’s even more fun. The fox was in his glory, watch “the guys” and MaM learned that “the thrower” is called the pitcher. We made it through five innings, I think, before we had to call it a night.

MaM was marginally aware there was a game being played. Marginally.

Wednesday night we went to the pool at the gym after work/school/day camp and fed the kids at the snack bar. Technically, I did microwave food for Bgk and I when we got home, but I don’t call that cooking.

Last night, we celebrated our tenth anniversary with dinner at Shula’s. I knew it was football-themed restaurant, but really wasn’t expecting the menu on the regulation football. But hey, it worked. And I didn’t have to cook! (Actually, it more than worked. A delicious steak dinner, with my honey, in a quiet, well air-conditioned restaurant, sans kids? I won’t lie- it was amazing!)

Tomorrow is our TENTH wedding anniversary. How is that even possible?

This past weekend my parents surprised us with an anniversary ice cream cake that we all enjoyed. My family has a thing about taking pictures in front of cakes (does everyone do this? or is it just us?), and Sunday was no exception.

It probably sounds corny, but life keeps getting sweeter. I can’t imagine taking on the world without the guy I’ve been eating cake with for the past ten years.

8 years ago this afternoon, I married my best friend. The day was hotter than Hades, but we didn’t really mind too much. We were too busy being in love, surrounded by friends and family, and too busy PARTYING to really care (all venues and vehicles were air-conditioned to the max).

Since then, we’ve built a crazy-quilt of a life together, including some travel, two adoptions, a cozy townhouse, and an obsession with Saturn. I can’t imagine life any other way.

My margarita was a little off (too tart? a little weak? not sure),and the service at the restaurant was so-so at best. But you know what? It didn’t even matter. We had FOUR whole hours…no hurry at all. We had complete conversations on a variety of topics with no interruptions. The venue and lack of service were just background to me.

We really should get out more often….when was your last date night?? How often do you get out sans little people???

If I had had a crystal ball the weekend of my wedding, and I could have looked into the future, into the summer of 2008, I wouldn’t have believed this is my life. I don’t think I could have even have dreamed of it all–I don’t know what I would have pictured that sweltering weekend in 2001, but it wouldn’t have been as good as it really is now.

1. He’s funny. OMG, is he funny. Fluids come out of my nose daily since I’ve met this man.

8. He will brush off the snow and scrape the ice off my car if it’s out over night.
9. He is all about technology, photographs and backing things up. So we have very technologically advanced photographs on multilple storage devices. I love that.
10. He feeds my candy habit.
11. He doesn’t drink coffee, yet is completely respectful and supportive of the fact that I do, and that I function better if I do.
12. He fills my car up with gas. (After he does the dishes. God love him.)
13. He helps me to see the lighter side of things, which is good, because sometimes I have a hard time doing that.

And after I opened the Target bag, the answer is “Yes, I will blog about this.”

This evening BgK stopped by Target on his way home, and when he arrived, his Target bag contained: a blue storage tote, a stuffed monkey, a hand mirror set and some contraband candy.

He handed the stuffed monkey to MAM,

“What’s the tote for?” I asked, as I slyly slid the candy to the freezer where it will stay until MAM goes to bed.

“This tote is for your LADIES DAYS SUPPLIES. As much as I like looking at them all time, I think they will fit in here just fine.”

See, when we were dating, obviously the SUPPLIES were hidden at all times. After awhile, once we were married, I felt comfortable leaving the SUPPLIES out for those days of the month.

Now, what, with the child, the job, the insanity I call life, I just don’t have it in me to keep moving said supplies back and forth (we have one of those master baths where the toilet is sort of stashed away from the vanity, so there’s no leaning and reaching while on the commode). So I just sort of keep them in the corner next to the toilet all the time. Now how obstrusive can a 20 pack be?

Well, see, I don’t know, cause I shop at SAMS.

So you know, my SUPPLIES are basically covered for what, 12-18months at a time. Sure it takes up space, but I never run out. And now I have a nifty new tote to stash them in.

Over the weekend BgK asked if I would like a laptop for our anniversary, and I said yes! yes! yes! and practically jumped out of my seatbelt (we were in the car). I didn’t give it another thought.

Today he came home with a box–and in the box was my beautiful Betsy. Now I can blog downstairs while M plays or watches a movie, I can sit on the couch and blog, I can blog in the bathroom if I darn well please (I don’t really think I’ll be moved to do so, and if I ever did, I probably wouldn’t tell you that’s where I posted an entry).
