There just weren't limits because they needed all hands on deck. I didn't realize you had to choose what you would be and do until well into college! I had friends who were atheist, Hindu, Mormon, Christian; friends that played instruments and sports and danced and rode horses and did synchronized swimming; friends in apartments and houses and mansions, in the city and the suburbs and the almost-country. Now, my circle of friends who I see on a regular basis has narrowed considerably, and most are living lives very similar to my own. I love my friends, but miss the diversity of high school. I liked having such varied friends in high school.
